If you have employment offer from Canadian company and you would like to come to Canada on a temporary work permit, there are several criteria that your employer and you must meet.

For the employer:

• The job offer is genuine;
• The wages and working conditions are comparable to those offered to Canadians working in the occupation;
• The employer conducted thorough search in his effort to hire or train Canadians for the job;
• The foreign worker is filling a labour shortage;
• The employment of the foreign worker will directly create new job opportunities or help retain jobs for Canadians;
• The foreign worker will transfer new skills and knowledge to Canadians; and
• The hiring of the foreign worker will not affect a labour disputes or the employment of any Canadian worker involved in such a dispute.
  
• You, on the other hand, must qualify for the position offered and must be able to prove, without doubt, that you have adequate education and experience for the job. In most cases, your English must be at least intermediate. You will also have to prove to the visa officer that you have intention and ability to return home after expiry of your work permit.

If you were offered position that is among regulated occupations , you will have to prove that you are eligible for the licensing process. Often, that involves contacting professional licensing body in Canada and having your educational credentials evaluated before you can apply for the work permit.
